Working with Grids
Using the grid system to simplify the process of searching and sorting through data
Introduction:
Many menus in VUE use a grid layout, enabling users to browse and locate information efficiently. This layout enhances the ability to quickly spot relevant data at a glance. Each cell in the grid represents a unique data point and includes features such as filtering and sorting controls.
Whether you are searching for a customer, part, repair order, or receipt, the grid system facilitates a faster and more effective workflow for every VUE user at the dealership.
Best Practices:
- You do not need to know the full customer name, part #, receipt #, stock# etc. to be able to utilize the search fields.
- Start by inputting the first few letters or numbers in the field you are searching to begin refining your results.
- The Grid default filter is determined in the User Settings. To learn more about User Settings, CLICK HERE
Customize your Grid
The grey bar across the top of the screen is known as the Action Ribbon. These may look different depending on the screen you are on.

- Anytime you see the Export
option in the Action Ribbon, you can download your Grid into an Excel file. - Anywhere you see the Customize
option in the Action Ribbon, you can customize and set defaults to your grid, further simplifying how you view information.
-
- Select the Customize button.
- Click on the Available Field(s) you want to add to your grid.

- When you have added all the fields you want to see on your grid, click [Save]
- The Exterior color field is now showing in the Vehicle Inventory Grid.

Master Filter
Some grids have a Master Filter option. You will either see an Open
or Active
default in the top right corner of the grid.
- Selecting the Open or Active drop-down allows you to view the various data sets based on the options selected.
- The number of options in the Master Filter drop-down varies by screen
Note: Each screen has multiple filters in addition to the Master Filter that allows you to search, sort, and select based on the option selected.
Search Fields
There are search fields where you can easily search for what you are looking for by entering the information in any of the blank fields below:
![]()
In the scenario below, I am looking for a spark plug. As demonstrated, typing part of the word triggers the search results to appear. The default filter is determined in the User Settings > Log String Filter.

Narrow your find even further by selecting the drop-down
next to the blank field.

Sort by Ascending or Descending by hovering next to any title field in your grid.
Ascending and Descending depend on the Customization
