Master VUE’s Labor Rates and Matrix Tools to Seamlessly Manage Op Codes and Repair Orders
Discover how to effectively use and customize the Labor Rates and Matrix features offered by VUE. These features assist in the management of Op Codes and Repair Orders when labor rates change. The Labor Rate Mismatch Tool can detect and help resolve any mismatches between labor rates associated with Op Codes and open Repair Orders. This streamlining of workflows helps prevent errors.

Add a Labor Rate
In the Primary Grid:- Click the
button in the Action Ribbon.
- Enter a Rate Code in the designated field.
- Click the Description field and type a short description of the labor rate.
- Click [Create] to continue.
Within the Labor Rate screen:
- In the Rate field, enter the dollar amount for the labor rate.
- (Optional) If needed, click the Effective Date field and enter the date the rate should take effect.
- When finished, click the [Save] button in the Action Ribbon.
Delete a Labor Rate:
Select the Labor Rate you want to delete. Click the [Delete] button in the Action Ribbon
Labor Rate Matrix Calculation
- Next to Use Matrix, toggle to Yes.
- There is a rate column to the left of the header. Here you can add multiple labor rates.
- Click the Markup% field in the grid, and input the percentage markup amount, if any.
- Click the From Hours field and input the Labor Hour that begins the Matrix.
- Click the To Hours field and input the Labor Hour that ends the Matrix.
- The calculation for Rate and Charge will be for every 0.1 for the given intervals.
- Select the [Calculate Matrix] button.
- The Matrix Header and Calculated Matrix grids are displayed.
- Rate Tiers are displayed with a header for each different rate.
If a Rate has been overridden, it is highlighted in blue with the following icon
When calculating the matrix that has overridden values, a Recalculate Matrix option is displayed to allow you to choose based on preference:
- Yes, recalculate all rates.
- No, recalculate only non-overridden rates.
Exporting the Labor Rate Matrix
An [Export Matrix] button is available on the Action Ribbon. Export the Labor Matrix to a spreadsheet for printing and sharing purposes.
The Export Matrix button is only displayed when the labor rate has been saved. If the same Labor Rate is reopened and edited, the Export Matrix button will be disabled until it is saved.
The name of the spreadsheet shows as: “Labor Rate Code - Labor Rate Description - Labor Rate.”
The spreadsheet will have two tabs:
- Header Matrix - Displays Markup Percentage, From Hours, and To Hours columns
- Labor Rate Matrix - Displays Hours, Rate, and Charge columns
Customize Labor Rates Grid
- Select the [Customize] button in the Action Ribbon.
- Under Selected Fields, you can select Yes or No or leave the field blank.

Yes will display in the grid only Labor Rates with a Labor Matrix.

No will display in the grid, only Labor Rates without a Labor Matrix.

- A new field called Labor Matrix is now available to be added to the grid
Mismatched Rates
Upon saving an update to an existing Labor Rate, the system will detect any mismatches. If there are mismatches:
- A "View Mismatch List" button will appear in the action ribbon
- An Info notification will appear in the upper right corner with:
- A [View Mismatch List] button for quick access. This notification disappears after 10 seconds
Clicking the [View Mismatch List] button from either the Action Ribbon or the notification opens the Mismatch List Modal, displaying mismatches between Open RO Ops and/or Op Codes

Op Code Mismatches:
Not using the Labor Rate Matrix:
- Changing the Base Rate will trigger mismatches for all Op Codes using the same Labor Rate Code
When using the Labor Rate Matrix:
- Changing Only the Base Rate: If the Base Rate is applied from 0.0 to 1 hour, all Op Codes (Make/Model) within this range will be flagged as mismatches
- Changing the Rate in the Header Matrix Line: This will cause mismatches for Op Codes (Make/Model) within that line's time interval only
- Changing Rates in the Calculated Matrix Individually: Mismatches will only be triggered for the Op Code (Make/Model) for those specific hours

- Users can select one, some, or all Op Codes by clicking on the box to the left of the Op Code name
- Click the [Update Mismatch] button to update the selected Op Code, make/model labor rate records with the updated labor rate
- After successfully updating the selected Op Code(s), the user will receive a notification.
Repair Order Mismatch:
RO with an operation that has a mismatched labor rate is displayed, with a hyperlink to the affected operation line
To manually update the mismatched labor rate on an operation:

Click on the blue Op hyperlink.

Select a different Labor Rate Code from the drop-down list within the operation.

Reselect the original mismatched Labor Rate Code from the drop-down list.

Click back on the open Labor Rates tab at the top of the screen to return to the Mismatch List.

Click on the [Refresh List] button at the bottom of the screen to refresh the list.
