Payroll Labor Import: Common Issues and How to Resolve Them

Can payroll labor hours be imported into a payroll run?

No. Payroll hours must be entered manually in the Payroll Enter/Edit screen or in a payroll run to issue checks. Importing a CSV file of hourly employee hours into a payroll run is not supported.

What should I do if employee hours changed after the payroll was imported?

If changes are made to an employee record after the payroll has been imported, those changes do not automatically update in the existing payroll run. Delete the employee from the payroll run and re-import the employee so the changes take effect.

How do I check whether labor was imported into payroll?

Use the payroll grid and look for the Imported column. The column shows whether a payroll item was imported into payroll.

What happens if a payroll run is voided?

If a payroll item was not imported and is later voided, the related repair orders are made available again for selection in a future payroll run.

Why might unpaid technician labor appear again in a later payroll run?

If unpaid technician labor was not imported into payroll, it can remain available for selection. If that payroll run is voided, those items return to available status and can appear in the next payroll run.

Recommended workflow

  1. Open the payroll run.
  2. Review the Imported column for the labor items.
  3. If hours need to be included, enter them manually in the payroll run.
  4. If employee details changed after import, remove the employee from the payroll run.
  5. Re-import the employee so the updated information is used.
  6. If a payroll item was voided, review the available labor items before creating the next payroll run.

Summary

Payroll labor hours are entered manually in payroll runs. Imported payroll items can be checked in the Imported column, and if employee data changes after import, the employee must be deleted and re-imported for the update to apply.
