Posting a Manual GL Entry

Accounting > General Ledger > Manual G/L Posting
Within the Manual G/L Posting Screen:
1. Click the Journal dropdown and select the appropriate journal.
2. Input the Transaction Date.
3. Input a Reference number, and press the [Tab] key on the keyboard twice.
4. Input an Account Number inside the posting grid.
∟ If the user does not know the account number, press the [Tab] key again, and the Browse Accounts window will appear.
∟ If the account selected is controlled, input the control number in the Control field.
∟ If the account selected is a sales account or has been marked to count, the Count field will populate with the number “1.” This field is editable.
5. Input a Description that relates to the posting.
∟ The user may insert a forward slash ( / ) that will automatically pull in the year, make, and model of the vehicle that is being used as the control number.
∟ The user may insert a comma ( , ) that will automatically pull in the VIN of the vehicle that is being used as the control number.
∟ The user may insert a period ( . ) that will automatically pull in the Account Description of the account that is being used.
6. Input a dollar amount in the Amount field.
7. Continue filling out the grid until the Total is $0.00.
8. Click the [Post] button in the Action Ribbon.
